Objectives

The creation of the project 'Youth Challenging Obesity' was motivated by the frightening fact that in European Union countries, overweight affects 30-70% and obesity affects 10-30% of adults. Furthermore, childhood overweight and obesity in Europe have taken on dramatic dimensions, with one in three 11-year-olds in the WHO European Region estimated to be overweight or obese in 2014. The primary aim of the youth exchange 'Youth Challenging Obesity' was to create healthier youth for a healthier future directly involving 56 young people from 7 European countries, to raise awareness and influence youth about the issue of overweight and obesity on local, national and international levels, and to give the youth an advantage in challenging the issue. The following objectives guaranteed that the aim is fulfilled: • Address the problem of overweight and obesity, and raise awareness about this problem in partner organisation countries and spread it internationally; • Motivate young people to take part in various physical workouts and activities; • Produce information tools for spreading the knowledge gained at the youth exchange (Web site, YouTube Channel, handbook of activities, videos and photographs); • Increase participant’s knowledge of Erasmus+ Programme and to develop several of their competencies (e.g. intercultural, digital...); • Strengthen the cooperation between partners and to support the development of new ideas under the Erasmus+ Programme.
