The main objective of the Youth Exchange in Istanbul, Turkey was to use non-formal education methods to prepare participants in international teams to produce workshops for students in a local high school. Together, they found common solutions to transfer messages to others through creative means in forms of art available for public viewing. Additionally, the young people met with local artists and ecological organizations. The objectives of the project included encouraging young people to better understand ecology and environment protection and how it affects both rural and urban spaces in Europe. The project also aimed to develop intercultural dialogue between youngsters from 5 different countries through activities based on non-formal education, which highlighted traditional customs of their countries. Furthermore, the project aimed to articulate and find a way together with local young people on how to promote messages to the public, and promote creative and artistic messages that reflected the participants' perceptions of eco-development in rural areas.
