Language training for all children who are attending kindergarten on good level. Skills for all teachers to achieve this. We want to train teachers to cope better in a multicultural environment, to expand their horizons of international cooperation and eliminate possible prejudices and stereotypes. We want to move towards achieving the vision of kindergarten for all children (including immigrants). We want to fix immigrants adaptation, language learning, a sense of security and belonging, to expand the horizons of local children through multiculturalism. We want to cooperate as planned with all parties in a multicultural environment. Expected impact of teachers studying abroad on children: thanks to innovative teaching methods, children's learning has become more interesting and children's relationships in a multicultural group are more diverse and knowledge and understanding of different cultures have increased. The adaptation process of children from another culture becomes easier because the children feel themselves safely. Results are assessed through observation.
Tallinna Männi Kindergarten has become more international in recent years. There are currently 37 children in kindergarten with nor Estonian or Russian as their home language, who speak different languages and come from different cultures. There are children from other cultures and other languages in all of our 12 kindergarten groups. This is a new and difficult challenge for our teachers and management assumes their training and exchanging experiences with colleagues in a similar situation in a multicultural environment is very important, because they have to create the necessary environment and language education for all children as it can be best for their development. We work daily with children aged 1-7, among whom there are many multicultural children who need to be taught the Estonian language so that they can go to an Estonian school to continue their studies.
