We started this project as we wanted to make young people more active and motivate them to create activities which will increase the quality of their life and the people in their local communities. As young people generally in Europe do not have knowledge about their rights and obligations as citizens, their involvement is not so high in political, economic and social life. To increase youth activism with this project we learned together about European citizenship, European identity, European values and active participation which are basic that young people understand how they can actively participate in democratic life and develop activism. As well through this project, we wanted to discuss challenges the EU today is facing as the migration crisis and EU scepticism, how that reflects our life and what young people can do to create positive changes in their communities. In this project, there were included 6 partners from 6 different countries (Estonia, Finland, Sweden, Serbia, Germany and Turkey). International perspective and experience from other countries showed us that young people from different countries and different backgrounds can work together successfully and develop ideas in concrete actions which can be applicable in their communities. We wanted to motivate young people to be ambassadors of positive changes and inspire them to work in their communities and motivate other young people to be more included in social changes. The objective of this project are: To promote active citizenship among young people; To promote human rights; To encourage the participation of young people in democratic institutions; To promote the “power” of people in democracy; To learn young people how to start local action and communicate with politicians and local authorities; To gain knowledge about the concept of youth participation in community and democratic processes as well as about the possibilities of the Erasmus+ programme and skills on how to use this program in order to involve young people to be more active in the promotion of European citizenship and democracy.
