Our school, fully understanding its educational needs, sought to participate in the European program ERASMUS-KA122 to enable its teachers to be trained in innovative educational methods and to develop the communication & teaching skills that will help them motivate students in active participation, using modern tools and technologies that integrate various forms of information, principles of learning, critical writing & knowledge. In this way, it was evaluated how to create a student-centered climate, capable of inspiring all students regardless of their background & pushing them to reach their maximum potential, while developing the metacognitive skill of "I learn how to learn ", so that our students are able to meet the rapidly changing demands of the modern age. Also, our main aim was to boost the European profile of the school unit through the contact of our teachers with teachers and institutions from other European countries and the consequent exchange of knowledge, experiences, good practices & constructive opinions.
Our school is a "typical" General High School, focused on teaching general and major subjects. However, our school staff recognizes the need to move away from traditional teacher-centered teaching methods and the offer of "ready-made" knowledge and to enrich educational practice with new, innovative methods that will make learning more engaging, involving all students and above all those who come from a disadvantaged family environment. In this context, it was unanimously decided to submit an application for participation in the ERASMUS KA122 European program, through which teachers of different specialties can be trained in innovative teaching methods that are already successfully applied throughout Europe and familiarize themselves with new technologies in order to design/implement activities to encourage our students to actively participate and learn. Also recognizing the need to strengthen the European profile of the school, it was decided that participation in selected educational programs will provide the opportunity to exchange opinions and experiences with colleagues from other European schools and will create the framework for future collaborations.
