The regions where the schools of our partnership are located have many similarities They all have a tremendous cultural wealth. They have Roman, Muslim, Renaissance or Baroque period constructions among others. The starting point of our project comes from our improvement plans. We had mainly detected three fundamental needs and we wanted to link them in this project. -Most of our students did not value or recognized the heritage value of their towns. -Many of them did not have easy access to the use of new technologies due to the low socio-economic level of families. -The predominant methodological approach in our schools was based on traditional methodologies and our goal were enable teachers to use active and innovative methodologies promoting the acquisition of key competencies in the students. It is important to get significant and contextualized learnings related to the place where students live in order to achieve a competency approach. This context had revealed the need to offer new job opportunities for the towns, being aware from ours institution that developing a project in Europe would favor not only the conservation of the cultural heritage but also the valuation, knowledge and dissemination of it.
We had previous experience in Erasmus projects and it wanted to continue because we know the benefits. The project was promoted by the management team and supported by the staff, included in the Educational Project. We were all aware of the need to change methodologies and adapt the school to the global and digital society in which we live. Another of our main motivations for the project was to provide equal opportunities to all students regardless of the social, cultural and economic level of their families; use innovative methodologies in our schools that respond to the new European paradigms to facilitate meaningful and competent learning. The students are between 6 and 12 years old. Our staff is made up of 35 teachers. There are about 350 students. About 50 of them have learning difficulties. The idea was to offer the possibility of getting to know other cultures and countries. Most of students in our school who had never traveled abroad, even outside the town, have been able to visit other countries thanks to this project.
