The general purpose of our project was the modernization of our school and the internationalization of its mission through the training of its staff as well as the "empowerment" of the trainees on an individual and professional level. According to the mobility activities, the following sub-objectives were defined as the acquisition of knowledge, the improvement of skills and competencies, the improvement of language skills, intercultural contact and the development of a European identity, and the creation of a network of teachers for future cooperation. Particular emphasis was placed on introducing trainees to teaching approaches focused on creativity and innovation through ICT and developmentally appropriate practices through holistic learning approaches. Furthermore, we aimed to familiarize the trainees with methods of early diagnosis and early intervention of students with learning and behavioural difficulties, the creation of new diagnostic tools and their application in mixed ability classes and finally the improvement of our school's inclusion strategy.
The 2nd Kindergarten of Kalampaki, is a small Greek school located in Kalampaki, a small town in the Municipality of Doxato, 13 kilometres southwest of the city of Drama and 150 kilometres away from Thessaloniki. It operates with 2 mixed classes of infants and toddlers of 15 students each and employs 4 teachers. Because of its geographically remote location, it is far from centers of cultural interest and has few opportunities for face-to-face educational experiences. The low socio-economic profile of our students combined with the cultural difference and the economic, learning and developmental differences between them creates the need for appropriate support. The existence of pupils with learning and adjustment difficulties, pupils with speech and behavioural problems, Roma pupils and special educational needs created the need to support them with inclusive practices. Awareness raising and training on innovation, digitalisation and early intervention for more effective inclusion and co-education of all children.
