The objectives we set in order to create the school we have dreamt of are five. Our first objective was to enrich the teaching-learning process with modern methods and good practices in order to shift to a student-centered learning model and activate the internal motivation of students. We also aimed to the improvement of the 21st century skills with a view to increasing our students’ holistic development. Strengthening the equal participation of all students in the educational process by providing equal opportunities was another target objective. Moreover, cultivating the notion of lifelong learning, professional development, cooperation and creativity in our school community as well as strengthening school extroversion and the European dimension of our school were equally important objectives to be realized.
The Erasmus+ KA122 program which our school implemented has strengthened our theoretical background and updated our methods and practices in order to promote student-centered and active learning. The cultivation of soft skills, inclusive education, providing students with opportunities, accepting diversity, effective problem solving, fostering critical thinking and creativity as well as shaping a collaborative school culture provided the framework for the objectives that has formed the context of our program. Our school comprises general and special education staff. Its 183 students are mostly of Greek origin, typical development and medium socio-economic status. Students coming from other countries as well as students from low socio-economic background, students with learning difficulties, and ADHD or students on the autism spectrum also study in our school. We implement Environmental Education, Health Education and Cultural programs on a regular basis and we actively participate in eTwinning projects for which we hold the label of the eTwinning School 2020-2021. We also participate in the Erasmus+ 220 program "Children of a Green World" with partners the Czech Republic (coordinator), Latvia, Turkey and Spain.
