Through the implementation and dissemination of the results of our project we wanted to a) enhance innovation and digital literacy in teachers and students, both in live and distance learning, through a use of digital and online tools and resources, which would be at the same time pleasant, attractive but also safe, b) to improve communication and the emotional climate in our school through the cultivation of soft skills, such as cooperation, empathy, tolerance, etc. c) to promote democratic, social and environmental values in our educational community, with experiential education on them, both in the formal and informal program (e.g. with volunteering actions, planting, cleaning public spaces, etc.), d) to connect with the European knowledge and experience on these issues, stimulating the feeling of European citizenship in the members of our educational community and the European character of the school.
After the health crisis of the corona virus and the mandatory distance teaching and learning, the director and teachers of our school realized that: a) we teachers needed further training in technological tools for distance education, as it had come to stay in – at least- extraordinary circumstances, b) the available distance learning tools did not motivate the students satisfactorily and needed enrichment, c) the need to modernize the classroom in live teaching was now -after the Webex experience- greater, d) the emotional bonds between the members of the school community had weakened and e) the indifference to the big humanitarian and environmental issues, already existing before, it had now, after the isolation, been strengthened. In this context, we drew up a plan for the development of our school that would strengthen, through European training, digitality, the feeling of community and social/environmental sensitivity in our school, a plan which, to our great joy, was approved for implementation.
