When we started this project we wanted to achieve three objectives. At first we wanted to help teachers and children be more familiar with the use of ict and digital learning environments. We also aimed to offer children new stimuli, make them work in groups, be more active during teaching procedure and develop inercultural awareness. Secondly, we wanted to build an inclusive school, giving chances to all children and eliminate all kinds of discrimination. We aimed to offer all pupils equal opportunities and help them in their cognitive and emotional development. Finally, our third objective was to educate our pupils as being active european citizens. We also wanted them to be more aware about european identity and european values, such as equality, democracy, respect of human life, freedom, justice and human rights.
Our organisation, Agio Pnevma Junior High School, is located in a rural area and our pupils lack in the use of ict. This became more obvious during the pandemic when we had to use technology in order to teach them. Some of our teachers are not also very familiar with technology. Another important issue for us is inclusion of all children. In our school there are pupils of different origin, with a different mother tongue and learning difficulties. We want to help all children have equal opportunities. Another issue that matters for us is european citizenship and european values. Our pupils, living far away from a big city, cannot easily understand the importance of being a conscious european citizen living in a globalised environment. During our project we had the chance to be informed about all these. We learned, in an experiential way, how to establish equality in access to education for all students, how to use simple ICT tools to empower all students in an inclusive environment and also develop their intercultural awareness.
