Recognizing this challenge and desiring, to serve its institutional role in the best possible way and to act as mentor, assistant and advisor in the schools of its jurisdiction but also in the schools of the wider region, the DDE of Achaia implemented a series of actions within the ERASMUS program that aims to the systematic recording and analysis of practical methodologies and quality models, in particular the widely recognized EFQM model, applied in schools and educational institutions in two European countries (Germany and Spain) that have long and proven experience in the area. The main goal of the program was the creation of a Training Program for training educational executives and the development of practical and applicable in the Greek Educational reality proven Quality Assurance Tools that aim to meet the administrational needs of school principals for the implementation of a series of innovative reforms.
In recent decades, the introduction of quality in education has been a priority issue for educational systems in the European and wider international environment. The introduction and application of quality models for education is an extremely complex issue which is influenced by social and historical circumstances. The basic legislation that frames the quality reformation of Greek schools introduces a series of innovative structures such as (a) Skill Development Laboratories (b) Educational Project Evaluation (c) Educational Project Planning (d) Professional Development Programs (e) School Organization self-evaluation (f) Internal Rules of Operation (j) School Life Consultant with the long-term goal of upgrading the quality of the provided educational services, which do not provide practical tools and do not develop the skills required for the implementation of quality assurance models in the administration of educational units.
