By implementing this program, we expect, through the new knowledge our teachers will gain, to shape a school open to society with students who can develop their creative thinking and problem-solving skills, develop responsibility, cooperation and communication skills, as to become active members of our society. One of our school’s main goals is the acquisition of digital skills by our students. Through the new knowledge and skills we will acquire from the program we hope to help our students to become able to construct or shape digital contents and approach them with a creative, critical and reflective eye. Our society is constantly evolving and future citizens are now expected to have developed many skills in order to play an active role in their adult lives. It is our school's goal to help our students expand their communicative, creative, critical and logical thinking through new teaching approaches in order to increase their motivation and opportunities. Finally, we expect our teachers to exchange knowledge, skills and good practices with colleagues from the rest of Europe.
Our school is a public elementary school with 32 teachers and 243 students, who come from different backgrounds (Roma, children of immigrants with poor knowledge of the Greek language, children from families facing economic difficulties). Our school implements cultural, health education, environmental education, civic education and inclusion programs. As a school we face challenges that are related to skills oriented to the following areas: Digital skills, life skills such as empathy and responsibility and mind skills like learning strategies, problem solving, etc. With the current program we have chosen to train in areas corresponding to the challenges we mentioned above. The individual actions of the program are: A) “Creation of Photos and Videos” by the organization European Academy of Creativity, B) “School radio! Podcasts and New Media as educational tools” and C) “Creative Thinking and Problem Solving” from the organization Europass Teacher Academy SRL. We hope that the participation of our teachers in the above programs will help us achieve the goals we have set as a school.
