By participating in the specific Erasmus+ program we hoped for multifaceted benefits. On the one hand we offer our students the opportunity to enrich their knowledge, skills and abilities in a real working environment, who otherwise would not have this opportunity, as our educational system does not provide for internships in companies as part of the learning process. It was also an opportunity to get to know the working environment, but at the same time the culture and history of another country of the European Union, helping them in this way in the personal, learning and their professional development. For the school unit it was an opportunity to gain experience in organizing and implementing similar events programs, in the evaluation and dissemination of the results. Also to satisfy the need for extroversion and internationalization.
The content of the specific European program, as a way of covering the gap in the Greek educational system of the existence of internships in EPA.L, was the enrichment of the knowledge, abilities and skills of our students through work in private companies. Also the opportunity to get to know another European country, to gain responsibility and self-confidence and finally to know the possibility of future work outside their country, as a consequence of the status of European citizen. Our school unit, the 1st Vocational Lyceum of Sykeon belongs to secondary education, for high school graduates. aims at the combination of general education (law 1566/1985) with technical professional knowledge, with a more specific purpose of developing students' abilities, initiative, creativity and critical thinking, b) the transmission of the required technical and professional knowledge and the development of their relevant skills, c) providing students with the necessary knowledge and resources to continue their studies at the next educational level. a vocational high school diploma, equivalent to a general high school, and a level 3 diploma are granted.
