Objectives

The project consisted in two activities: the youth exchange entitled « Eco-Art » and the training course entitled “Power of light”. The youth exchange “Eco-Art” involved young people from 6 Programme countries to cooperate in an intercultural contact preparing an art exhibition from upcycled material and tutorial videos about their creation process. Up cycling is different from recycling. When waste is recycled, it loses its value. Up cycling, on the other hand, allows a non-recyclable waste product to gain in value. Up cycling is to renew objects by giving them a new life. Practicing the art of upcycling in particular, taking place in a creative and dynamic learning environment, reinforces personal and social skills, solidarity, communication, conflict management and the ability to self-integrate. In the area of non-formal education of young people, art is a sure and safe area for developing their personal abilities and enhancing their creativity. Through artistic practices and related activities, the youth are empowered to express their deepest thoughts. By engaging in our artistic youth exchange we wante to give to the youth the opportunity to learn more and develop skills about waste valorization and material transformation to create art with meaning (from trash to art); to develop communication skills by expressing their feelings and ideas about their social surround and their unhindered integration as a whole; to interact with young people in an intercultural group enhancing their self-esteem and increasing their motivation to participate in social solidarity and cohesion activities; as well to enhance intercultural dialogue and cohesion at an international level. Practicing in a multicultural environment can also overcome any language obstacles and enhance the smooth integration of participants into the group. The objectives were: 1. To give opportunity to youth including youngsters with few opportunities to implement a sustainable approach and to act ecologically and in creative way. 2. To give a chance to youngsters to share know-how's regarding waste valorization, upcycling, art and learning about the possibilities of maintaining a Zero-waste lifestyle. 3. To enable participants of this exchange to develop multiple skills in terms of waste management and to develop environmentally responsible behaviors. The training course “Power of light” involved participants, from various Programme and Partner countries, in creative activities and in the theoretical and practical realization of workshops aiming to develop specific skills connected to youth education through light mapping show projections. Through this project we also wanted to experiment and innovative tool and method to value our environment and building of interests. The light mapping can be projected on any buildings, included from remote villages. It can also be used for educational purposes, to raise awareness of youngsters and the local community about important social, cultural and environmental issues. With this new, attractive and innovative practice, which can lead to positive changes in young people’s behavior and skills, we wanted to encourage youth commitment for the development of their community. The training courses targeted youth workers and youth leaders to learn more about this practice for their daily work to support youngsters. The objectives were: 1. To develop the skills of youth workers and youth leaders in terms of the use of light mapping for non-formal education in order to be able to support youngsters with innovative practices, by expanding to digital, social and entrepreneurial skills. 2.
