Objectives

The plan of the activities that happened had a wide scope and were aimed to achieve different things, from networking organizations throughout Europe to dealing with social issues and xenophobia. The training course “Balkan Vision” took place in Stratoni, Greece had its focus mainly in the Balkan region (the countries were: Greece, North Macedonia, Bulgaria, Italy, Romania, Turkey, Serbia, Albania), a place that even in recent years creates tension, has historically been a place of controversy and display significant amounts of nationalism. These nationalistic tendencies are one of what it aimed to deal with by having the participants be involved in formal and non-formal education activities, dialogue among many. Other specific social issues to tackle were human rights abuses, discrimination against LGBTQ+ community, racism and xenophobia. The main objectives of “Balkan Vision” were: ● For the participants to develop multicultural competencies and increase their diversity awareness by experiencing different perspectives from other nationals and internationals. ● To promote peace and cooperation and understanding between the different cultures attending. ● To provide opportunities for the participants to practise their diversity skills in different settings and learn how to break the stereotypes and prejudices they had before the exchange. The youth exchange “Medi(a)terranean” took place in Stratoni, Greece and aimed at countries surrounding the Mediterranean Sea (the countries were: Greece, Egypt, Malta, Spain, Morocco, Turkey, Cyprus, Italy) with the hope of creating opportunities for people of different social and cultural backgrounds. Letting them explore the similarities between their countries and helping them express themselves through media activities and new technologies and learn active citizenship and participation. Specifically, the most important objectives were: ● For the participants to understand similarities and differences between the different Mediterranean countries. ● To make the participants aware of the different methods and tools of intercultural dialogue. ● To promote well-being and peace through sport and physical activities. ● To acquire basic knowledge on the subjects of workshops and become knowledgeable and skilled in the use of multimedia tools for photography, video-making, journalism. Radio and social media. In an effort to make new connections with other organisations and empower cooperation with existing ones, we sought to give a chance to present their ideas, practices and create an open, free place to express these thoughts. So, the networking event was born, bringing together 20 organisations from around Europe, in Thessaloniki, Greece. Each participating organisation would bring at least one concept note of a project proposal per participant, they had to present at least 1 concept note of a project proposal per participant. In case an organisation came with 2 participants, they would have to bring at least 2 proposals. The aims of the event specifically were: ● Networking of the participating organisations at European level; ● Presentation of the project ideas by subject and share skills and experiences on funding schemes; ● Initiation of new partnerships and fostering cooperation of the existing ones. ● Develop proposals for submission organically from the bottom up with the help of other workers.
