Many young people have been impacted by the covid-19 pandemic negatively, with studies showing increased mental health issues. LGBTQIA+ youth is a marginalized community who has a history of stigma and daily experiences of discrimination, hate speech, hate crimes, inequalities, homophobia, transphobia, bullying, prejudices, abuse, and violence, because of their gender identity or sexuality. Thus, because of these traumatic experiences they experience and live with depression, traumas, anxiety, suicidal thoughts, self-harm, drug use, panic attacks, severe tiredness, and more, which during the pandemic have increased. Young LGBT+ people have higher rates of mental illness and lack of access to health care, which makes it even more important not only to understand the impact of the pandemic on the community but urgently to take new actions and offer opportunities that can contribute to their overall well-being and overcoming the internal and external taboos about mental health issues. Outventure project brought together LGBT+ and allies youth out in nature to embark on a unique adventure of learning and growing with each other. Participants learned how to organize their own community within an intercultural environment and co-create a safer and braver space that encourages dialogue, accountability, and active participation. Participants shared their experiences and explored mental health topics within the LGBT+ community, experience first-hand non-formal learning, and become inspired by themselves and their peers. One of the main methods participants connected with is outdoor learning, It's active and boosts physical and emotional well-being, while it fosters positive attitudes towards health, the community, the environment, and values of empathy, understanding, cooperation, and solidarity. Outventure Objectives were: - Organize a 10 days Youth Exchange and bring together 30 young LGBT+ and allies people, who are youth with fewer opportunities. - Increase life-long learning competencies (youthpass) and boost self-esteem and self-confidence of participants during all phases. - Stimulate participants' active learning and participation in their communities using outdoor and community building as its catalyst. - Participants to create in DYI a Zine during the YE about mental health and wellbeing for LGBT+ youth to distribute to their peers. - Organize an Open Day Event in Greece during the YE and at least 12 local actions(minimum 2 per country) during the follow-up. - Organize an "Outventure Online Youth Event", sharing project results, raising awareness on the topics, and connecting LGBT+ and allies youth from all around Europe. - To promote the Erasmus+ program and its beneficial role for inclusivity and active participation of marginalised youth.
