Almost 14 million young people in the EU are unemployed - over 17 % of them. (https://bit.ly/2zp2RxO). Long-term unemployment is often paired with low self-esteem, lack of participation, marginalisation, and blaming of circumstances, judgement, and prejudices. With our partners, we held research among our target groups (youth with economical obstacles) and defined the NEEDS as following: A) To understand what type of work is fitting for them. B) To raise personal chances to get employed. C) To boost personal competencies relevant and desirable by the labour market. For participating organisations, the identified NEEDS were: D) To raise capacities for working on the international level. E) To boost the connection with the local communities which was lowered due to long-term social isolation caused by the Covid-19. We wanted to support youngsters with fewer opportunities to first reconnect with their inner selves and to understand what their inner needs are. Then, we supported them to rationally analyse their options, think critically while listening to their needs, and thus strengthen their decision-making skills. Finally, through harnessing their social skills, we supported them by being more capable to take action, participate actively in the life of society and strengthen their value on a labour market through it. We wanted to shift their perspective on work from “something I have to have” to “something I want to do”; to let them discover their passions and dreams and find their career paths; help them to understand that the labour market is not competitive, but cooperative. We were focused on groups facing bigger obstacles with getting a job – youngsters facing cultural differences, social, economical, or geographical obstacles. By recalling our gentle side, people learned to make decisions which don't seem to be economically logical (e.g. spending their free time in support of charity, community meeting, playing with kids, etc.), but which brings happiness to their life and the life of others and creates job opportunities for the future. With a common vision for HAPPINESS, we set up a GOAL to: "Reconnect youth with their inner voice to create personal and professional success in life.” To reach it, we defined the following OBJECTIVES: A) To bring together 34 young people from 5 different countries, making sure that at least 50 % of them are with fewer opportunities; B) To make young people more active citizens on the local and international level and raise their employability chances by it; C) To boost participants competencies useful in personal and professional life, mainly: teamwork, communication, cooperation, decision making, active listening, learning to learn, proactivity, leadership, empathy; D)To raise the capacities of organisations on the local and international level; E) To promote the European Union and the quality employment for all internationally.
