To give our students a tool for personal development through knowledge of cultural heritage, and to teach them how to preserve and promote it. They already do this in the subject of History and Cultural Heritage of Andalusia, but participation in this project has given them a broader perspective and deeper analysis. It has allowed them to understand and appreciate the realities of the contemporary world, its historical antecedents, and the main factors of evolution. It has led them to develop artistic sensitivity, aesthetic judgment, and cultural enrichment. With the promotion of new technologies, they have improved their digital competence by carrying out work on different digital platforms and using information technologies responsibly. They have also improved their language skills by using English as the vehicular language in the development of activities, both in oral and written expression. They have learned to be more tolerant of cultural diversity and thus improve coexistence in the classroom and in our environment. Our aim is to make our students aware of the advantages of belonging to the European Union and to increase participation in it.
Martín de Aldehuela is a highschool with 700 students, of which about 500 belong to compulsory education, distributed into 30 groups of approximately thirty students each. It consists of 4 lines for first and second year of ESO (Compulsory Secondary Education) and three lines for third and fourth year of ESO. Regarding post-obligatory education, we have two lines for first and second year of high school in the modalities of social sciences, health, and technology. In the field of vocational education, we have 2 basic vocational training cycles, medium and high degree cycles in the specialties of electricity and administration and management. The project belongs to compulsory education and, although initially was aimed at third year ESO students, the age of the participating students was ultimately changed to post obligatory students in social sciences. There were several reasons for this, including the fact that the participating students take a course on cultural and artistic heritage of Andalusia, and their ages are closer to those of the students they exchange with in partner schools. The aftermath of the pandemic and the war in Ukraine, which is close to our partner in Poland, influenced this choice.
