Objectives

With the realization of the project we wanted to motivate and teach our students to know, value and respect the resources that the field offers us when we take care of it and cultivate it, so that they learn to cultivate the traditional vegetable plantations that are grown in our fields, the realization of natural compost and recycling activities to help environmental sustainability, making our students aware of sustainability following the Sustainable Development Goals, while learning that in the rest of the European countries they also cultivate the field, learn about their crops , and in this way feel integrated and part of the Europe to which they belong. At the same time, the students could improve their linguistic competence during the course of the project.

Background

CEIP San Gregorio is a publicly owned school dependent on the Junta de Andalucía located in the municipality of Oria, located in a disadvantaged rural area and being one of the towns with the lowest per capita income in the province of Almería. Currently with 2,160 inhabitants, our municipality has decreased its population by more than 1,000 inhabitants according to the National Institute of Statistics, leaving an aging population. Its economy is based on agriculture, the majority of the population does not have higher or secondary education. CEIP San Gregorio is the only school for Infant, Primary and first cycle of Compulsory Secondary Education in the town. Schools 105 students of Infant, Primary and ESO. It has three Early Childhood Education classes, five Primary classes (5th and 6th are unified), two ESO classes (1st and 2nd ESO), and one PT (Specific Classroom). All our students belong to the students with fewer opportunities due to to the geographical obstacles that we find ourselves with being far from the provincial capital, living in a dispersed urban center and not having public transport.
