The main objectives of the present project may be summarized in four: 1. To upgrade the refresh the linguistic competence in English of the teaching staff involved in the implementatio of the project. This means the nonlinguistic bilingual teachers, the teachers of languages and several members of the managing team. 2. To upgrade the teaching methodology of the bilingual teachers by traing them in task-based and project-based teaching strategies with a wide use of multimedia and new technologies. 3. To use this acquired knowledge in a double way: -On the one hand, new teaching strategies make new and fresh lessons. -On the other hand, the upgrade of the communicative competence in English of the members of the managing staff will foster a European spirit in the school organization by, for example, encouraging international exchange projects. 4. To make our students aware of their cultural and historical heritage ans a means to respect and value difference. In this sense, eTwinning has proved an effective tool to work these topics and gain new partners for future Erasmus+ projects.
IES Juan Goytisolo Bilingual School is the only Secondary School in the coastal town of Carboneras, in the province of Almería, southeast Spain. Since the Bilingual Programme started in September 2020, the managing team of the school has been giving steps to favour its implementation. One of the most relevant aspects of an efficient bilingual programme is an appropiate adaptation of our School Educational Project. The institution is bilingual in several nonlinguistic subjects, such as Biology, Geography and History and Maths. Furthermore, the study of foreign languages has been boosted by the increase of Second Foreign Language (French) tuition time, and the arrival of native speakers conversation assistants. Another aspect that needs to be addressed is the spirit with which the managing team of the school modifies and updates the School Educational Project to include the results of the project and the way in which these results impinge on thedaily teaching-learning process.
