At our school, we believe that the path to successful education is directed towards a European dimension whose fundamental pillar is shared knowledge and the exchange of good practices and methodologies. In order to achieve this, the internationalization of our center is therefore necessary. And in this sense, we have already begun our opening to this European dimension of education by being participants and a reception center for volunteers from the European body. However, we believe that the next step is the embarkation of our teachers on this journey towards the European opening of education. Furthermore, we would like, in the short term, for our students to also embark on this exchange with students from other centers in Europe, thus ensuring that they are participants and creators of this cross-border cooperation and improvement of the quality of education. At our school, we understand that successful learning of a foreign language is achieved through common subjects. We consider that this CLIL methodology is a cognitive challenge for students, since in this way they develop their basic interpersonal communication skills and their competence in cognitive-academic language.
Our school La Purísima de Alzira is a Catholic school with Franciscan spirituality. Ours is one of the eleven schools belonging to the Franciscan Schools of the Immaculate Foundation (EFI). The School has two units per course, from Infant to Baccalaureate. Our center has an offer at all stages with subjects whose reference language is English: in preschool it is the subject of English, in primary school it is English and secondary artistic education is English, Oral Communicative Competence in English, computing and technology, and in high school they are English and philosophy. The values and charismas that we work on in our school advocate for an inclusive and diverse education where tolerance and democracy prevail. And with these programs we can promote the exchange and transfer of knowledge and teaching methods between teachers from our center and other European centers. The team in charge of the management, design and implementation of the project is made up of a secondary school teacher from our center. We are a reception center for volunteers from the European Corps and we have been participating and enriching ourselves educationally and personally for more than 4 years.
