The objectives that we proposed during the development of the project were as follows: Objective 1: 0 emissions school: We hoped to raise awareness and activate initiatives for the improvement of air quality in the school environment. Objective 2: The school moves forward towards residue 0: We expected to reflect in more detail about the problem of the waste that we generate and investigate its origin and the conditions for its production and its management. Objective 3: Zero-kilometre school: What we eat and where it comes from. We hoped to raise awareness and mobilize the school community on consumer issues, focusing on local and organic food.
Our center is a lay school independent of political or economic groups. It is located in the neighborhood of Patraix, in the city of Valencia (Spain). It is a working-class neighborhood which has always welcomed people from very different parts of the world and where a great variety of cultures and realities coexist. We offer pre-school education (age: 3-5), primary education (age: 6-11) and secondary education (1age: 2-16). We work in a cross-curricular way and at all our educational levels promote a coexistence in peace and in the respect for human rights, as well as for the physical environment. In doing so, we try to encourage in students certain routines that they are capable of developing to improve sustainability and environmental quality.
