Objectives

Objectives: What did you expect to achieve when implementing the project? The main objectives of the project were: To train the educational community in values of diversity, inclusion and gender equality. Improve the language skills of teachers. Combat school failure, lack of motivation among students, and school drop-out. To respond to students with diverse learning needs. To promote the European dimension of the center.

Background

“On Inclusion” is a project carried out by the teachers of the IES Almenara in Almenara (Castellón) for the Erasmus+ programme in the field of school education. The Almenara’s high school is a medium school (402 students, 49 teachers), with ESO, Baccalaureate and Basic Vocational Training. The students come from three villages (Almenara, Xilxes, La Llosa) in rural and agricultural areas, in the region of Castellón. The project was created to promote inclusion from different perspectives. Inclusion of students with learning problems and demotivation. Inclusion of the multilingual PEPLI programme, improving the communication skills of teachers. Inclusion of gender equality in the activities of the center and in relations between pupils. Inclusion of the Centre in European projects to increase the European dimension. We work with students immersed in a rural area coming from working middle-low class families with professions mainly in the primary sector. We observed a general lack of work habits and motivation. There are 25% of students in the 1st grade of ESO with diverse learning problems, needing reinforcement in instrumental subjects, writing disorders, problems of comprehension, ADHD.
