As a school belonging to the Ecosschools project, we have detected a decrease in quantity and quality of the good practices associated with it. After a deep reflection, the need arose to look for new formulas to boost the project, motivating students and updating the initiatives that we carried out every day. To achieve this, two main objectives have been set: 1. To know and develop new ways to protect our surroundings (the environment). 2. To increase the motivation of our students to change and/or take care of the environment and the world around them. Given the transversal nature of this type of curricular content, learning was approached through observing, analysing and evaluating which are habitual human behaviors, which are adequate and inadequate, and how one can contribute to change or remediate those anomalous situations, even taking a proactive attitude and getting involved in the cause of the problem. It is a change on a personal level that affects those who are closest to the students themselves, as well as the entire Educational Comunity as a whole, through the mediation of students transferring the teachings to their families, thus benefiting everyone around them.
Our school offers a comprehensive, inclusive and comprehensive compulsory education that prepares students to be citizens, free with democratic values, supportive, with aptitudes and educational capacities that allow them to function successfully as citizens. It integrates three educational stages: Infant, Primary and Secondary and has an average of 700 students enrolled. Our teaching staff is made up of 56 teachers. One of the biggest challenges that the new European educational framework and educational law in Spain (LOMLOE) pose is educating students in the Sustainable Development Goals of the 2030 Agenda. By means of this, we intend to help students be aware of the implications of their actions that will contribute to their participation more actively in transformative actions and to achieve long-term environmental change. To help them be self-sufficient, responsible and citizens committed with a more sustainabe world, we use an inclusive and cooperative methodology (Universal Learning Design), promoting democratic principles, reflecting on the sustainability of environmental resources and favoring a digital transition in carrying out the proposed tasks and activities.
