Objectives

Four main objectives: to improve the comprehensive training of the teaching staff and above all their foreign language skills; to improve the digital competence of our staff and the application of these skills to teaching; the acquisition of skills in pedagogical leadership and in strategies that lead to the comprehensive development of our pupils and, also, the promotion of the internationalisation of our school. Seen in perspective, the aim was to make a certain qualitative leap in aspects already mentioned, such as teacher training, the opening of the school to European plans and projects and the improvement of pedagogical leadership. In reality, these may not seem very ambitious objectives, but it was a question of changing the not very open spirit of a centre and, in a dynamic that had been going on for almost fifteen years, this could be a very strong change.

Background

The project "Dare great challenges: training for a life, a life for training" of IES Cornelio Balbo seeks to implement in the centre the idea of continuous teacher training, a training that does not only go through the usual courses but by observing new methodologies and trying to adapt them to our context; on the other hand, this project also seeks to internationalise our centre. Both intentions had to be developed in a school which, until now, had lacked Erasmus School Education projects in the field of staff mobility, we were starting from a not very favourable context as, in addition, it is a school with a large part of the teaching staff on the verge of retirement. On the other hand, an important part of the teaching staff was also calling for a project of this kind, proof of which is the large number of mobilities granted (and carried out).
