In the design of our project, we designed three objectives closely related to the needs that the pandemic had uncovered; firstly, we observed that students in general, and students with high intellectual abilities in particular, needed to increase motivation and therefore enhance their skills, so one of the objectives was to know and increase our digital resources to meet the needs of these students; On the other hand, learning about the Finnish educational system would allow us to adapt strategies and methodological resources to our centre, with the same objective as before, to improve the attention and involvement of the students. Finally, we had also found that our teaching in English was getting poor results in terms of student and family satisfaction, so we decided to look for new methodological strategies to improve the skills of bilingual teachers, which would also be transferred to non-bilingual teachers, increasing the load of linguistic stimuli for students by both types of teachers. The achievement of all the objectives would allow us to modify and enrich our teaching programmes.
Our organisation is made up of a relatively young teaching staff who are eager to improve their teaching work and adapt it to the needs of 21st century students, students who have been born into a society immersed in the digital era; if we also have a high number of students with high intellectual abilities, who are demotivated by traditional methods, it provides us with a context of the need to improve the digital skills of teachers; an aspect that was revealed with the last pandemic and the work carried out telematically. Moreover, in a globalised society where the common language is English, and being a bilingual school in English, we have the obligation to offer an education in English that is really useful and offers the students. At the time of starting this project we were in the process of updating the Bilingual Project. Therefore, the main context of our project and our organisation is to implement innovative methodologies based on digital resources, as well as to improve our English language teaching, for all students and teachers.
