Objectives

Our school could be improved if we had an organized group of outdoor activities in contact with nature. We live in a city on the seashore that offers many possibilities for doing sports and surrounded by mountains and natural surroundings. We would love to create a "Hiking and Nature Activities" Club so that students could experience first-hand the benefits of these activities. We also want physical activity to go hand in hand with a greater awareness of the importance of a balanced diet and responsible use of natural resources. To do this, we want to create a "Vegetable Garden" in which students can work through the different subjects as well as learn to eat a healthy and environmentally friendly diet. During the time of lockdown there have been many activities that have been increased by the situation of isolation and lack of mobility. We have observed a growing interest in the practice of chess, we want to transfer the most to benefit from the practice of this sport from the beginning of their school stage with the creation of a Chess Club to practice it even at breaks, early morning classroom or school canteen.

Background

After what was experienced by the Covid 19 pandemic, society in general, and schools in particular, have had to adapt to a different way of acting and relating. Online teaching has brought us many digital challenges that we have had quickly to overcome. All of us, teachers and students, have been trained in Information and Communication Technologies, from a simple video call to the use of online teaching platforms. However, we believe that we have left aside important aspects for the personal growth of our students, such as respect for the natural environment, the landscape and taking care of our body and mind in a healthy way. In our school, we have observed how students go out to socialize less frequently and do so more and more through social networks. Mobile devices have become an indispensable element of their day to day, also creating a great dependency in many of them. We observe an increasing level of sedentary lifestyle and a lack of regular physical activity. We see the urgent need to work in this direction to eradicate them and for this purpose this project was born.
