Objectives

Entrepreneurship and foreign languages are two key learnings which are highly important in current European society. Thus, with this project, we intend to enhance our students' and our teachers' linguistic competence and foster an interest in entrepreneurship and business in our students who, in 5-10 years, will be adult citizens in a very competitive society. Moreover, in the 21st century society, mastering digital tools is highly necessary. Lastly, this project does not only have a humanistic side, but it might also be a greta opportunity for transnational development and the exchange of skills and knowledges. In short, the goals of the project were: 1) To increase the sense of initiative and the entrepreneurship spirit on our students. 2) To improve our teachers' and students' foreign language competence. 3) To reinforce the European conciousness and to get to know the values of the EU. 4) To improve our teachers' and students' digital competence 5) To increase the intercultural awareness.

Background

IES Diego Velázquez is located in Torrelodones, in the outskirts of Madrid. The school enrols more than 1,000 students between 12 and 18 years old and more than 80 teachers. Three different stages are taught Compulsory Secondary Education, Postsecondary education and Basic Vocational Training. This project is based apon two main pillars: entrepreneurship and learning of foreign languages. Our school is split between two linguistic sections, one in english and one in French. Besides, German is also taught as an optional subject. Therefore, our school needs teachers with a high level in foreign languages. On the other hand, entrepreneurship is a key skill for citizens of the 21st century. Our school boasts a high demand of science and technology leanings, however, subjects related to Social Science do not seem to be as appealing for our students. As a result, we came about with the idea of joining these two skills in an Erasmus + Project.
