Objectives

1o Maintain and increase our network of European friendly centers with which to relaunch opportunities for the professional and personal development of our teachers and provide our students with opportunities to create ties and share school and personal experiences with students from other countries through virtual contacts and mobility, paying special attention to students with fewer social and economic opportunities and with motor difficulties. 2nd Improve and provide our axes with a European dimension through collaborative projects with teachers and students with other realities, sharing innovative methodologies, tools and digital applications, which allow students to improve their key skills. 3rd Increase the linguistic skills in English, French and German of teachers and students in linguistic and non-linguistic subjects, to open up to other realities and personal and work opportunities. Mainly, the students had opportunities to use the languages studied at the center in real contexts, which will make them gain confidence in their abilities. All these objectives were kept in mind, paying special attention to students with fewer opportunities.

Background

The IES CÉSAR MANRIQUE is a public and urban center for Compulsory Secondary Education and Baccalaureate in Arrecife, Lanzarote (outermost zone). It is also an Ordinary Center of Preferential Educational Attention for students with motor disabilities. We develop these thematic axes: Promotion of health and emotional education; environmental education sustainability; Equal and affective-sexual and gender education; Linguistic communication and library; Canarian social, cultural and historical heritage; and Cooperation for development and solidarity. The age of the student body is 12-18. Coexistence, managed by the Coexistence Commission, is good, low conflict. The level of competence is homogeneous in 60%. The student profile is heterogeneous: hard-working and committed students, along with highly unmotivated students, with high abilities, or with special educational needs. The income of the families is medium-low, so the opportunities to leave the island are few. The pandemic affected all sectors of our educational community, the vast majority emotionally. The coexistence, the atmosphere, the work and the performance of the members of this school community deteriorated.
