Objectives

Our lack of experience in motor disability and knowing that a comprehensive reform was necessary, we addressed our efforts to reach the ambitious goals intended. What we planned was not only to make our facilities (classrooms and corridors) more accessible, but also to introduce the required innovations so that the teaching/learning process improved for all our students.

Background

During the 2021-2022 school year, the Isidra the Guzmán secondary education school merged with the adjoining school (Albeniz), going from 662 to 900 students between 11 and 18 years old, including students with special needs: with autism disorders, with ADHD, with hearing impairment and, for the first time, with motor disability. This new context implied an important challenge, as it would require us to implement a great magnitude of modifications, not only on the architectural area of accessibility and mobility inside the building, but also on the effective inclusion of this student body by making the other students aware of the diversity
