Objectives

The objectives of this project have been as follows: 1. Enhance the educational offerings of the institution to attract students and make us a preferred choice over other institutions due to our European focus. 2. Motivate the characteristic student body of our institution, who often face personal and social challenges, to develop self-improvement and responsibility. 3. Raise awareness among our teachers and students about the European dimension of the job market and the opportunities offered by professional mobility. 4. Foster a sense of European citizenship. 5. Acquire language skills to practice their profession in another language and expand their job opportunities within the EU. While English is fundamental, languages like Italian provide a competitive advantage in the job market. 6. Develop social skills and autonomy in a foreign country.

Background

The San Juan Bautista School is a Salesian educational institution that covers Nursery, Primary, ESO (Secondary Education), Baccalaureate, Basic Vocational Training, Intermediate Vocational Training, and Job Training for unemployed individuals. It is located in a neighborhood in Madrid, Tetuan, a multicultural area characterized by disadvantaged social and economic conditions compared to other parts of the city. We predominantly enroll students of foreign descent, currently representing over 17 different nationalities. The students benefiting from Intermediate Vocational Training belong to the professional fields of Pharmacy, Nursing Assistants, and Dependence Care. The average age is 19 years old. This profile typically presents issues within the family environment, low self-esteem, past experiences of academic failure, and a socioeconomically modest background. As an organization, we strive for educational excellence and equal opportunities. Therefore, Erasmus programs play a crucial role in achieving our objectives of inclusion and enhancing the employability of students who start with fewer opportunities, helping them become competent professionals with a European perspective.
