Objectives

In this first proposal, we detected four needs that had to be addressed in order to lay the foundations of what would be our pedagogical and training model, which would have as a reference the quality standards that outline the new Erasmus+ programme, i.e. "Inclusion and Diversity", "Digital Transformation", "Environmental Responsibility" and "European Dimension of Education". As a starting point in our Erasmus+ Plan, we considered it essential that the following needs were addressed: Our school needed to implement a multilingualism programme where language learning would be accessible to all members of our educational community. In the area of new technologies, both our school and our entire educational system will face challenges in the coming years that will mark a radical change in the teaching and learning process, as well as in the protocols and processes of educational management and cybersecurity. In the pedagogical and management area, our centre needed to evolve in its educational model, for which we needed our entire community, where the implementation of new teaching models will make our curricular programme more flexible and international.

Background

IES Pérez Comendador is a public secondary school located in Plasencia (Cáceres) and owned by the Regional Government of Extremadura. The educational offer in our centre includes ESO, Baccalaureate, Basic Vocational Training, Intermediate Cycles and Higher Cycles. Our programme is complemented by other educational offers: Partial Presential Offering of Vocational Training, Free Vocational Training Exams, Impulsa Plan, and Innovated Plan. Our Basic Vocational Training and Intermediate Level students are mostly aged between 17 and 21 years old. A significant number of students come from nearby towns, so the profile of young people who study a cycle is very heterogeneous and with different motivations for accessing this type of studies and training. We can affirm that 80% of our cycle students have a medium-low socio-economic level. Despite having previous experience in Erasmus+, this application is our first foray into KA122-VET projects as a beneficiary school. In 2015 we were able to implement a KA101 project as a consortium member, and we started our journey in Erasmus+, which allowed us to familiarise ourselves with the dynamics and management process in the development of an Erasmus programme.
