Objectives

Given that the main challenge for our students is job placement after their studies and youth unemployment in Spain is very high and many of our students have difficulties finding work when they finish their studies, at the Institut Jaume Mimó we believe that the more opportunities and experiences they have, the easier it will be for them to find work. In this sense, being able to do Erasmus+ is a differentiating factor that helps them in their job search. Thus, our main objective was to increase job opportunities for Intermediate level students after Erasmus+. In a complementary side, we were also aiming at improving their skills and abilities, especially in the field of English communication and interculturality.

Background

The Institut Jaume Mimó is a public educational center located in Cerdanyola del Vallès (C/ Serra Galliners, s/n) where ESO, Baccalaureate, PFI and Training Cycles of the families of Commerce and Marketing, Mechanical Manufacturing, Administration and Management and Graphic and audiovisual communication are offered. Our mission is the search for educational excellence and the development of our students. Our vision is to accompany the process of integral training of the young person, a process that consists of learning to know, to do and to be. We opt for their future with the CFGS 3 × 2 of International Trade and Transport, the DUAL FP, the Erasmus + program, the Project based Learning and the UNIC Project, among other activities. The center has around 90 teachers and 800 students. This Erasmus+ project has been the first that we have managed for Vocational Training, that is, Intermediate Level. Until now we had only managed Higher Education projects since we have the ECHE Charter, and we had only offered Erasmus+ scholarships to Intermediate Level students through consortia, but in accordance with our internationalization and employability strategy for our students, we are committed to Vocational Training projects.
