Objectives

The main identified need that the Erasmus+ project aimed to address was to foster a European and global awareness from a local context. Our educational institution is situated in an inherently rural environment with significant production of cereals, vines, and olives, which are partially distributed throughout Europe. The intention was to raise awareness about the importance of achieving sustainable development goals and how our students would become part of that productive sector through new technologies. The goal was to engage with other European countries and understand the place of their professional profiles in those nations. We anticipated that this would be an enriching experience and would encourage others to follow in their footsteps.

Background

The Francisco de los Ríos High School is an educational institution located in the municipality of Fernán Núñez (Córdoba), with a population of around 9700 residents. Students from nearby municipalities attend the school to pursue Compulsory Secondary Education (Educación Secundaria Obligatoria), Baccalaureate (Bachillerato), and Level II of Compulsory Secondary Education for adults. It also offers a Middle Grade Vocational Training Cycle in Microcomputer Systems and Networks, a Higher Grade Vocational Training Cycle in Multiplatform Application Development, and the 2nd year of Web Application Development. The school has an enrollment of 605 students, who are taught by 53 teachers. The subjects taught include Compulsory Secondary Education (1st to 4th years) and Baccalaureate (1st and 2nd years). A significant percentage of students come from families that show interest in their children's academic education. The participating students are over 16 years old and are in their first or second year of the Middle Grade Vocational Training Cycle in Microcomputer Systems and Networks. Our students usually access this training after obtaining the Compulsory Secondary Education diploma or completing Basic Vocational Training.
