The primary and more concrete objective of the Cybermedi@tors project was to create an online collaborative learning environment to empower teachers, students, and parents in effectively preventing and combating cyberbullying. Furthermore, our objectives encompassed conducting in-depth research on the reasons and contexts of cyberbullying, establishing a virtual platform (Cyberlab) for data collection and knowledge sharing, but also designing an accessible digital platform with MOOCs and workshops, and implementing a multi-leveled training process for all the relevant target groups. The ultimate aim was to equip teachers and students with tools, resources, and knowledge to promote cybermediation, fostering an inclusive and diverse educational environment. Overall, all the objectives were reached positively.
The Consortium decided to apply for the Cybermedi@tors project driven by a profound concern for the escalating issues of bullying and cyberbullying affecting students in our educational context, pointed out by many representatives of school and VET sectors. Recognizing the urgent need for a comprehensive approach to combat these phenomena, we sought the value of a collaboration with international partners but also with local schools already engaged or interested in being engaged in addressing cyberbullying through new experimental solutions. Furthermore, since the “cyber” connotation of bullying is nowadays demonstrated and in continuous evolution, the Consortium identified as imperative to integrate innovative solutions into educational practices against bullying, providing a specific focus on ICT and digital methodologies and approaches.
