Background

The GIRLS TEAM Up! Project was requested in the 2021 call to address a clear need that we at the Santos Mártires de Córdoba Diocesan Foundation were detecting in our closest environment: having the possibility of working on a REAL INCLUSION OF GIRLS AND ADOLESCENTS IN SPORTS PRACTICE. As we already wrote in the project application, it is known from numerous studies that the female gender in the sports field is in a disadvantaged situation, being an underrepresented group and having fewer opportunities than the male gender in terms of offer and practice possibilities. of physical-sports activities taking into account the tastes and interests of this sector of the population. This contextualization becomes more solid when different reports and research affirm that girls and adolescents have LESS MOTIVATION than boys when it comes to starting to practice an activity and suffer EARLY ABANDONMENT if they have practiced it at some point in their life. . For all these needs and in order to CREATE ADHERENCE TO SPORTS PRACTICE, GIRLS TEAM Up!
