Objectives

With this preliminary approach, we tried: 1.- To increase the interest and understanding of the secondary school teachers and students in this important area of knowledge. 2.- To achieve a positive impact on the young students and teachers’ current dietary habits. 3.- To explore the feasibility of including this important area of learning within the current school curricula and to find out what were the main problems and limitations of the current school plans.

Background

We applied for this project because we considered this ERASMUS+ call was an excellent opportunity to promote the collaboration between researchers, academics, teachers and students from different institutions and schools from different Mediterranean countries (Spain, Italy, Greece) and to work together in the area of the current food system relevance and of our dietary habits for our nutrition, health and the sustainability of the planet. We tried to explore and address the needs of Secondary Education teachers and students to implement school activities and projects that would give them the opportunity to understand and learn more about the importance of our food habits as a mean to promote a healthy nutrition as well as the sustainability of our food system and of the planet.
