Objectives

The main objective of the project was to revolutionize STEAM education across diverse educational settings by introducing innovative teaching practices and resources. We aimed to enhance the capabilities of educators through training and the integration of digital tools, ensuring that they are well-equipped to deliver engaging and effective STEAM lessons. We sought to foster a collaborative network among educational institutions to share best practices and resources, thereby strengthening the overall quality of STEAM education in Europe. Our goal was also to increase student engagement and achievement in STEAM subjects, preparing them for higher education and careers in these critical fields. Each partner has a different educational system and a different organization of the educational process. Thanks to our multinational partnership, we wanted to develop an inclusive, applicable and accessible STEAM education program for our disadvantaged students. We wanted to raise students' awareness of environmental issues finding solutions to these issues using a STEAM methodological approach and digital skills to ensure sustainable development. It had contributed to making teaching and learning an attractive process for all students.

Background

This project was initiated to address critical gaps in STEAM education within disadvantaged regions across Europe. We recognized an urgent need to enhance teaching methodologies and access to quality education in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics, aiming to equip educators with innovative tools and approaches. Our partnership comprised educational institutions dedicated to improving educational outcomes and inclusivity, ensuring that the benefits of STEAM education are accessible to all students, irrespective of their socio-economic background. This collaborative effort was essential for fostering educational equity and preparing students for future challenges in a technology-driven world. The STEMAction project empowered students to create STEM solutions for environmental issues. Extracurricular STEAM courses, including robotics and outdoor activities, foster positive attitudes and improve academic performance. All students, including the disadvantaged, benefited from these opportunities. Students acquired basic STEM skills, critical thinking, creativity, and collaboration abilities. They engaged in global issues, worked in international teams, and gained confidence in language skills.
