The project aimed to raise awareness of the central and holistic importance of information and digital literacy in the primary education curriculum, in close connection with education in equality values. To this end, the potential of children's literature (especially picture books) and transmedia resources has been highlighted.
BRIDGE has endeavoured to foster information and digital literacy as a vital basis for educating an informed citizenry that will stand up to disinformation, hate speech and fake news, enhancing the relevance of curiosity, empathy, enquiry-based learning and critical thinking, starting from childhood. To this end, information literacy needs to be placed at the heart of education, and that awareness has been the project’s main purpose and the reason we applied for it. Therefore, we applied for this project to meet the need to generate knowledge about the importance of information and digital literacy in primary education and to learn about good practices from the six project countries. The needs we addressed are these, which we are materialising in 3 outputs: a report to know the situation in the 6 countries of the project, an open access online portal with a selection of resources and good practices, and a training seminar for primary school teachers, to give them keys to implement transversal training in information and digital literacy in their school.
