The main objective of iVET was to catalyse innovation and knowledge transfer within Vocational Education and Training (VET) institutions. For this reason and after assessing current practices on innovation and technology transfer in the EU, the project sought to identify the main gaps and trammels faced by VET institutions in implementing knowledge transfer practices in their curricula. As specific objectives iVET have been a) to train technical VTE teachers, administrative-academics or managers in innovation and technology transfer, b) develop strategies for the transferring of the acquired knowledge, in the work environment of participating teachers and professionals whose final beneficiary is students and c) generate links between the participants, with professionals specialized in Innovation and Technology Transfer, which allow them to develop (or continue to develop) personal and institutional networks over time. I-VET has contributed to addressing the needs of both teachers, administrative-academic or managers dependent on the Professional Institutes and Technical Training Centres and other VET ecosystem's stakeholders such as students in adopting a new approach in the use of knowledge transfer.
The consortium applied for the iVET program with the purpose of fostering the utilization of innovation and knowledge transfer within Vocational Education and Training (VET) institutions. This objective was particularly significant considering that while knowledge transfer has significantly influenced traditional schools and higher education, its impact on VET education has been comparatively limited. Through iVET we seek to bridge this gap and promote the integration of innovative practices and knowledge exchange methodologies within the VET sector. Through its training programme the iVET has sought to empower VET institutions to embrace innovation, enhance the quality of vocational training programs, and better prepare learners for the evolving demands of the workforce.
