The aim of EMO2C was to strengthen emotional and social competences of the target group, so that this personal empowerment served as a basis for the development of technical and professional skills. The sum of both would allow them to face their return to the labour market with more guarantees
According to Eurostat, in October 2020 3.1 million young persons (under 25) were unemployed in the EU (a rate of 17.5%). In that context, they risked being lost to the labour market and become socially excluded. It is not about NEETS, because they do have the desire and the intention to work, but for economic, family or social reasons they have been left out of the system. This is where Second Chance Schools come into play. The Second Chance Schools (E2C) provide young people aged 16 to 29 years, without employment or qualifications, with an original pedagogical model based on innovative training through personalised itineraries. In their needs to re-enter the labour market, this group requires the development of technical skills and competencies that will enable them to obtain or build employment. But also the skills and behaviours that will help them in their personal fulfilment and, later, in their job search and participation in civil society. As a solution, we suggested a specific training on EQ and social skills. In this context, proper emotional management is essential to rebuild a solid self-esteem from which to reinforce technical and occupational skills.
