Digitalisation brings many new opportunities as it helps to improve efficiency and learning outcomes, but also challenges. New technologies and the Internet allow free access to knowledge, enabling people to learn anytime, anywhere, and from any device, the role of the trainer/teacher is no longer to transmit knowledge but to FACILITATE learning. The training methods are also changing: OPEN and DISTANCE/BLENDED training on PC, smartphone, or tablet. The overall aim of the project was to develop a framework for VET FACILITATORS/TRAINERS to acquire skills in the use of digital tools to bridge the gap in terms of new competences of a learning facilitator, required from trainers/teachers working in digital environments. The specific objectives were: - Provide support to facilitators/trainers to be able to adapt to the new VET environment and the new relationships with learners - Support facilitators in their learning process through E-Pathway, a self-assessment tools, training modules, gamification tools, highly qualified teams and the provision of high-quality training - Develop an Open Educational Resource with open materials - new methods and tools -to provide quality and inclusive education/training through digital environments.
The project addressed the challenges of digital transformation in education by strengthening the digital readiness/resilience/capacity of trainers. The partnership created OER (https://favet.eu/) containing E-Pathway (WP2) aimed at effective performance for a trainer-facilitator in a digital environment; a self-assessment tool to assess the competences of VET trainers/teachers and modules embracing design/creativity, facilitation, collective intelligence, high-quality communication, shared leadership, distance interactivity. To put in practice the training materials, game-based educational tools (WP3) with the guidelines for teachers (WP4) were developed. The focus was on providing a comprehensive training pathway for facilitators, with an emphasis on transversal competences, not only through created training resources but also the training of trainers on international/national levels that facilitated the exchange of good practices and the introduction of digital tools. To summarise, the project supported VET professionals, trainers/trainers of trainers with the necessary skills/competences to adapt to the changing educational landscape and ensure their continued effectiveness as facilitators in digital environments.
