Awareness about the European UnionPreventing racism and discriminationPreventing radicalisation

Objectives

A good part of the European countries have some nationalist independence movement. Spain is not a special case within Europe. France and Spain (Coordinator and partner of this project) are the European countries with the highest number of nationalisms, such as the most recent case of Spain, Catalonia or historical cases also such as the Basque Country, Galicia, etc. Already in the case of France, the region of Brittany, in the northwest, there are political parties that advocate a decentralization of the Republic and the recognition of Breton and Gaul at the same level as the French. In the case of our Irish partner, which is located within the United Kingdom, it is made up of four constituent countries: Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland and England. It is noteworthy that each of these territories has its own nationalist movements, which on many occasions are also pro-independence. We also focus on the cases of Belgium and Italy, since in the case of Belgium the independence of the lower region of Flanders is claimed (in some of its tendencies). In the south of Belgium is the Walloon Region (with a French-speaking majority) which also has nationalist movements tending to belong to France. No less striking is the case of Italy, where there is nationalist polarization. In the south, a movement that proposes the independence of the Sicilian people and positions itself against Italian centralism is very popular. The reasons given by the defenders of this trend is the existence of its own history, culture and language (Sicilian). And finally we focus on the reality of our partner and his country, Portugal, which is a country with very solid social cohesion. However, its 2 islands of Madeira and Azores have nationalist currents that advocate creating 2 free and independent states within the European Union. In conclusion we can draw the following conclusion: throughout the history of Europe, nationalist sentiments arise in a context in which history, language and economy are mixed, seeking the infinite need to have an enemy and the European Union. it was created precisely for the construction of bridges, not walls, where no one is more than anyone else, where everyone has dignity, but which puts above the idea of Europe to prosper in the global world. An idea not compatible with nationalism. With this reflection we can assert that today the balance and even the existence of the EU is threatened by the growing nationalist wave established in most of the countries of the European community and neighboring, even more so today with the growing INADVERSION in citizenship regarding the concept of Europe derived from the COVID19 health crisis, giving wings to xenophobic, authoritarian, racist movements, etc. that prevent the feeling of European citizenship promoted by this type of European youth mobility programs such as Erasmus +, from being carried out with increasing normality, thereby preventing the creation of a stronger, more democratic European community where opportunities for its citizens be a reality of prosperity and real multiculturalism. After this analysis of the situation, and based on the needs shown by the young people of the partner entities and their young people, we can detail their needs regarding the development of this YE: -Get information, training and awareness of the number of prejudices and stereotypes that still exist regarding the nationality of origin, ways of working and traditions of each country. -Make visible an unknown reality regarding the concept of radical nationalism, its characteristics, origins and the negative aspects that it generates for European society and for the country itself. - Acquisition of work and response mechanisms such as social skills and structured dialogues to combat xenophobia and racism towards people with a different opinion than that of others. - The creation of new structures and channels for the inclusion of people in all sectors of normalized life, people with some type of disability, immigrants, etc. - Know effective communication channels that promote cultural exchange between young Europeans and that originate a feeling of group European identity and real. The general objectives of this exchange are: 1-Create a feeling of real European citizenship and understand the importance and functionality of the EU through a cultural, religious and economic exchange in terms of opinions and concepts are concerned. 2- Know the different European mobility programs that make it possible to eradicate attitudes of xenophobia and separatism. 3- Know, analyze and understand the concept of radical nationalism. 4-Share, create and report on tools and structures for dialogue and citizen participation, which enable equal opportunities for each person.
