We wanted to improve language education and linguistic diversity in our school, as well as enhance our students' readiness for international activities. Finland is a small language area, and for it to succeed, it is essential to encourage its youth to engage in intercultural communication. We believe that this should be promoted through positive special treatment, meaning that this educational opportunity should be presented in a positive light, enabling easier access to international interactions. One aspect of this positive special treatment was the opportunity provided to them through the project to easily explore French culture, especially opera and musical theater activities. With our project, we aimed to strengthen the European dimension of teaching and learning more broadly. This objective was achieved by placing our students in a situation where they could showcase their skills to French peers, while also giving our students a genuine chance to adopt good practices from the French. The collaboration platforms for this were opera/musical theater education and visual arts. We offered the French (Orange) the opportunity to familiarize themselves with the Uppo-Nalle children's opera.
