The overall objective of the project was to improve in quantity and quality the proposal of a sensory practice to most users of the home. To do this, we looked at: -Specialize a team of professionals in the Snoezelen technique -Generalize the use by all the professionals of the institution to the very specific technique of Snoezelen -Support the individual dynamism of the participants as well as the interdisciplinarity of teamwork -Develop the institution’s openness to the outside world and partnership.
The Foyer P.Dantec accompanies adults in situations of great handicap (intellectual and motor disabilities), with which, in addition, communication is made difficult by their lack of access to verbal language. To decode their needs and propose other ways to meet them, an approach by their sensoriality seems relevant. The approach known as "Snoezelen" by sensory tools and techniques, can thus bring: a medium of communication, a bodily well-being, a way to enter into relationship. However, this approach is little known in the institution, and too little used in terms of the benefits it can bring to this specific population. Furthermore, we note that working conditions with these highly dependent people are difficult and that professionals need to be supported in their drive and motivation. Finally, the home suffers from a lack of openness towards external partnership.
