We pursued a triple objective: awareness of ecology, improvement of English and openness to others. The first objective is an important concern of the establishment and was at the heart of the project and the activities carried out. The second objective is linked to our desire to push our students towards excellence. Some of them had a very good level of language, for others it was the first experience of concrete use of the language and an opportunity to overcome the language barrier. What seems to us to be an important skill on the job market and before that to be a plus for Parcoursup. Finally, openness to other cultures is also part of our school project and it is a fundamental element for us insofar as our students come from backgrounds that are not always open to others. Discovering others is a way of bringing them to a greater openness of mind, which is fundamental for the citizens of tomorrow. Finally, we have added, in conjunction with our European partners, digital skills. But for this objective, our students had rather the role of leader because they have good IT skills.
We are a small rural high school with about 110 students. We try to bring our students to the maximum of their abilities by taking into account their professional projects. Some of them would like to join the Grandes Ecoles (selective undergraduate schools) and we do our best to get them there. For several years we have been working on the visibility of our establishment at regional and national level and on its international openness via a European class and etwinning projects which have received European labeling and even a prize in the national competition. The will to make more concrete the cooperation with the partners with whom we have been working on these projects for 3 years (Filiz SEKRETER from Turkey and Francesco DESARIO from Italy) pushed us to do this project. The third partner (the Portuguese school) is a more recent partner that we have welcomed last year. As for the subject of the project, it is linked to the establishment's efforts to maintain its eco-school label through the ecology club, which is very active. This was also the subject of our etwinning projects. A common concern with European partners to involve young people more in the fight against climate change.
