Objectives

The main objective of this project was to improve the quality and quantity of inclusion by working on the brakes and levers that can bypass them. To achieve this, we would look at: -Improve the inclusion practices of IME and SESSAD Les Genêts d'Or professionals through the discovery of innovative practices and a change of perspective -Improve collaboration with National Education in general and with local schools of the ordinary environment in particular -Break down the divisions, businesses and establishments in the IME/SESSAD and promote internal reflection on inclusion.

Background

The Medical-Educational Institutes (IME) and the Special Education and Home Care Services (SESSAD) of the association Les Genêts d'Or accompany children and adolescents in a situation of disability (presenting mainly an intellectual disability). However, they are facing a major challenge related to their mission and the evolution of the school : to develop inclusion in ordinary schools, for students whose significant cognitive impairment does not facilitate this inclusion. Moreover, beyond the structural reasons, various other obstacles have been identified : -stigmatizing view of disability -lack of culture of partnership between medical-social institutions and National Education -the partitioning of practices in specialized establishments. Faced with these limitations, institutions were looking for solutions to overcome them.
