Objectives

1. The first objective concerns the learners: - To help young people to improve their skills in their respective professions, to develop their technical know-how and other transversal skills by confronting them with European professional standards via the competition. - To encourage young people to meet representatives of the European professional market through mobility, for a more direct access to employment on the European territory. The skills competition can be a real career gas pedal and brings an international dimension and openness to young people's careers. - Promote diversity and inclusion by offering everyone a chance to participate in the competition, regardless of their socio-economic or geographical situation... 2. The 2nd objective concerns the coaches: to help the trainers, supervisors and staff in their respective fields to improve their skills through active observation and participation in the competition. - Encourage meetings with their foreign counterparts to develop the exchange of good technical and pedagogical practices and strengthen European cooperation. - To reinforce the performance of the young people by improving their supervision conditions.

Background

WorldSkills France is an organization that promotes vocational training and implements non-formal learning activities for youth. As such, it organizes and participates in skills competitions that put young people and trades in the spotlight: organization of the national competition and participation in the European and WorldSkills competitions. Our project is part of this activity: participation in the European Skills Competition EuroSkills in September 2021. 30 young learners had the opportunity to train and confront themselves with the European standards of a skills competition and the professional requirements of their respective trades at European level. Two main areas and times of training were set up for this: a first time of preparation and technical training for the competition, correlated with physical and mental preparation sessions, and a second time of active participation in the competition.
