The Université de Haute-Alsace, located close to Germany and Switzerland, has a natural vocation for encouraging student and teacher mobility, as well as promoting international and especially cross-border projects. Created in 1989, the EUCOR network, bringing together the two Alsatian universities and the Universities of Basel (CH), Freiburg (D) and the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (D), became in 2015 the first European territorial cooperation grouping, Eucor-le Campus Européen, boosting cross-border mobility. In addition, since 2019, the university has also been part of the Alliance European Partnership for an Innovative Campus unifying Regions (EPICUR) with 8 other partners: Karlsruhe (D), Poznan (PL), Freiburg (D), Amsterdam (NL), Thessaloniki (EL), Denmark (DK), Vienna (AT) and Strasbourg (F). The Université de Haute-Alsace relies on these two consortia and the Erasmus+ program to develop its student and staff mobility, in line with its strategy of sustainable development, citizenship, inclusion and transformation. In 2021-2022, mobilities were further impacted by the Corona crisis, resulting in a decrease in the number of recipients. However, more than 100% of the grant was used.
