One of the four strategic priorities of the University of Orleans for 2018-22 was the internationalisation of its curricula offer and campus life. Participating in the Erasmus+ programme appears as a cornerstone, and the University of Orleans, a founding member of the ATHENA alliance (accredited in 2020), is taking part in the European Universities initiative, a key action of the programme. In 2021-23, the financial envelope allocated to the KA131 project partly supported the deployment of ATHENA activities for the benefit of both students and staff, while pursuing the general objective of offering an international experience to a growing number of students and staff, in and outside Europe. The aim was to enable a large number of students to develop linguistic, personal and professional skills as well as a sense of European citizenship. The ambition was also for members of the administrative staff to undertake training mobility in order to internationalise their career paths. As the Erasmus+ 2021-27 programme is characterized by inclusion criteria, the University of Orleans has made a high priority of the objective of facilitating mobility for participants with fewer opportunities.
